East-West Shrine Game

Saturday I shot the East-West Shrine Game at the University of Houston. This game allows many college seniors to have one last college football game. For others, it is one of the first steps that they take in preparation to play in the NFL. I got to shoot a couple of Georgia players, Thomas Brown and Fernando Velasco. I also got to get some images of defensive back Zach Bowman, of Nebraska, who I was fortunate enough to meet through my good friend Dusty Stanfield. Zach is a great guy who I think will have a lot of success on the next level. The game was so much fun and a great finale to the football season. I guess it is now time to look forward to next season, a season where the Georgia Bulldogs are ranked by many as the preseason number 1! Let's hope they will continue to be ranked that high. It couldn't hurt, considering all that it did for LSU this year.

Arizona at Houston

The Wildcats of Arizona visited U of H on Saturday. I had a great time shooting the game. Arizona has some great young players and should continue to be a powerhouse for years to come. These are just a couple of images from the game.

Sugar Bowl with a Legend

Tuesday I got the pleasure of assisting Sports Illustrated photographer Bob Rosato. Bob is one of the greats in the sports photography industry and was a pleasure to work with. He is a true professional and also a very personable guy. He was very willing to teach me many new things that I have never thought about. I got to spend the night learning about positioning, covering events, and the importance of planning and preperation. This was my first assisting job and was a great experience. Students, I cannot stress the benefit that you will receive from assisting. Although taking the camera away from your eye and carrying four over your shoulders may not seem like the best way to make better pictures, it is a valuable learning experience. I believe that Bob's help and tutoring will greatly strengthen my skills as a photographer and will give me a better perspective of what editors are looking for. It was a great night overall and I was able to learn tons more about photography. I also got to see my Alma Mater, the University of Georgia, whip up on Hawaii 41-10! Go Dawgs!
